SEISMIC takes the stage: first conference presentation at EUROSON 2026
SEISMIC's first scientific presentation at EUROSON 2026 showcased pioneering ultrasound research supporting the future of image-guided, minimally invasive brain interventions.
As the SEISMIC project gets underway, our research is already reaching the international scientific community. Over the coming years, consortium members will present their latest findings at conferences across Europe and beyond, sharing knowledge, exchanging ideas and building collaborations that will help advance minimally invasive brain treatment.
We're proud to announce that the first of these presentations took place at EUROSON 2026 in Lublin, Poland. Organised by the European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (EFSUMB), EUROSON is one of Europe's leading conferences in the field of medical ultrasound.
Representing SEISMIC was Yichuang Han, PhD candidate at Erasmus MC, who was selected by the Dutch Society for Medical Ultrasound (NVMU) to present her research as part of the 2026 EFSUMB Young Investigator Award session. Presenting in this competitive scientific programme is a recognition of the quality and relevance of her work and provided an excellent opportunity to showcase research that contributes to the future of image-guided brain interventions.
Her presentation, "Intraoperative 4D Ultrasound Localization Microscopy of Deep Cerebral Perforating Arteries," focused on innovative ultrasound imaging techniques that enable detailed visualisation of the brain's small perforating blood vessels during surgery.
This research forms an important foundation for the SEISMIC project. Within the consortium, these innovations will be further developed by integrating advanced ultrasound imaging with X-ray technologies, creating richer, real-time visualisations that can support neurosurgeons during minimally invasive procedures. By combining complementary imaging modalities, SEISMIC aims to provide clinicians with more detailed information exactly when they need it most.
The presentation also sparked valuable discussions with researchers and clinicians working in medical imaging and ultrasound, providing an opportunity to exchange ideas and gather insights that will help shape the project's future research activities. Such scientific interactions are an important part of SEISMIC's mission to collaborate with the wider research community and accelerate innovation in image-guided surgery.
