About seismic

Turning innovation into real impact in healthcare.

SEISMIC is a European health and innovation project focused on one clear goal: making brain surgery safer, more precise, less invasive and more accessible for patients.

our why

Over 1/3 of the world’s population is affected by neurological disorders. Among these conditions, brain tumors and sudden brain bleeds are particularly life-threatening. They often require brain surgery, the risks of which can be overwhelming for both patients and their families.

Many brain surgeries still use large skull openings and limited imaging tools, making recovery long and treatment high-risk and less accessible for some patients.

Mission

Over the next five years, SEISMIC will advance minimally invasive approaches for treating deep brain bleeds, bleeding between the skull and brain, and brain tumors.

Technology

Who is behind SEISMIC?

We unite hospitals, academic institutions, industry and technology partners, and patient organisations. Backed by European public funding, they advance minimally invasive neurosurgery together.

01

Hospitals & academic institutions

Leading neurosurgeons and researchers ensure clinical excellence, define real medical needs and lead the clinical studies that will validate new approaches.

02

Industry & technology partners

Companies co- develop the imaging (e.g. ultrasound), simulation platforms & software (to train clinicians) and surgical techniques (e.g. cyroablation) that make minimally invasive neurosurgery possible and scalable in clinical practice.

03

Patient organisations

They represent the lived experience of patients (with brain tumors and brain bleeds) and families. This to ensure innovations truly respond to what matters most: quality of life, accessibility and recovery.

04

European public funding

Through the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI), public and private partners share risks and accelerate innovation that no single organisation could achieve alone.
